Skin Recovery Tips You Need To Know
Does your skin feel like it’s burnt out and exhausted? Have you been trying a lot of different products? Has your skin become sensitive and easily irritated? If these sound familiar, your skin barrier could be compromised. Don’t worry though! We’ve got tips to help your skin get back its healthy glow ✨
Simplify Your Skincare
If you love skincare like we do, you might have a horde of them at your arsenal and many more you’d like to try. How can we resist the urge to buy brand new skincare when it promises to give us our best skin yet? Well, adding a new product in your regimen, more often than not, could be one of the causes of your skin breaking out or getting irritated.
When this happens, it’s best to stick to the basics—Cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen!
Cut down on the serums and oils and essences and keep it simple with a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer! In the mornings, you can just add your sunscreen.
Once you feel like your skin has calmed down while following your basic skincare routine, you can then try to incorporate other skincare products one at a time.
Ingredients To Look For
When your skin barrier is compromised, it’s best to stick to gentle and sensitive-skin friendly ingredients like aloe, oatmeal, chamomile, etc. which are known to keep your skin calm and hydrated. Some ingredients you should avoid include: alcohol, essential oils, and fragrance as they can dry out your skin and further irritate it.
A good rule of thumb is to always make sure your skin is hydrated so make sure to apply your favorite moisturizer and even add in a hyaluronic acid serum like our Sky Drops once you feel like your skin is getting better!
Be Gentle~
When our skin starts to get flakey and dry due to irritation, some people’s first response is to want to slough it all off. This is definitely NOT what you should do 🙅♀️. As mentioned in the previous point, hydration is key and it’s best to keep these stressed out areas hydrated rather than trying to scrub the problem away.
So definitely no scrubs or exfoliators—yes including chemical exfoliators as these can irritate your skin too! Just be patient and gentle towards your skin and once it’s recovered (meaning tamed breakouts and no more redness or flakeyness) you’ll be able to use your other skincare products! Just be sure to patch test and try them out one at a time 😌
