If you love having seaweed in your meals, there’s another way you can incorporate it in your everyday beauty routine. Besides being delicious, seaweed is filled with vitamins and minerals to benefit the skin. Seaweed is a blanket term for marine plants and algae that grow in all bodies of water. Their environment is rich in life thanks to the sun and salt that seaweed has a dense concentration of minerals, vitamins, proteins, and amino acids–all good things for your skin to absorb. Over centuries, seaweed has been found as part of the beauty routines from people long ago–from Greece to China–so it’s no surprise that with modern technology, we can experience the skin benefits of seaweed as well.

Seaweed is rich with vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals. These plants are able to withstand intense temperatures, pressure changes, and live in high-salinity environments. It’s no wonder that scientists are researching just how they can withstand it all. When it comes to skincare, perhaps seaweed can also make our skin withstand our own environmental stressors.

Because seaweed is antioxidant-rich, it’s a great igredient to help with fine lines and wrinkles. It’s high in amino acids to help boost collagen production, which in turn can help smoothen lines and keep skin soft.

Another benefit of seaweed is it’s ability to regulate oil production. Some studies have shown a decrease in oiliness which in turn decreased their acne as well. Speaking of acne, seaweed has anti-inflammatory properties to help soothe redness and sensitivity in the skin.
