How To Eliminate Blackheads
Blackheads are a common skin concern that can be very frustrating to deal with. Blackheads occur when our pores become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and other debris. The exposure to air can cause those dirt-filled pores to fade into a darker color, creating what we commonly call “Blackheads.” It is a struggle to deal with blackheads, but there are several things you can do to eliminate them. In this blog, we’ll be taking a deeper look into how you can eliminate blackheads for clearer skin!
Cleansing Regularly
One of the most important steps in eliminating blackheads is to cleanse regularly to keep your face free from dirt! Using a gentle cleanser (or a hydrating cleanser, depending on your skin type) regularly can help remove any dirt or oil build-up that may have occurred while you went about your daily routine. Rinsing your face thoroughly with lukewarm water can help open up your pores and avoid irritation.
Exfoliating Weekly
Exfoliating weekly helps remove any dead skin cells and can assist in unclogging the pores, which can help prevent blackheads from forming. Using physical exfoliants like scrubs or chemical exfoliants like AHA (Alpha-hydroxy acids) or BHA (beta-hydroxy acids) can dissolve the material that holds the dead skin cells together, which can allow them to be easily removed from the surface of the skin. Using clay masks are also an effective way as they absorb excess oil. We recommend only exfoliating once a week depending on your skin type. It’s also very important to not over-exfoliate the skin or else you risk severely irritating the skin.
Using Retinoids
Retinoids are a type of Vitamin A and it recently became a commonly used ingredient in skincare. Retinol works by speeding up cell turnover, which helps prevent the buildup of dead skin cells and can help unclog the pores. However, retinol is known to be quite irritating to the skin so we recommend slowly introducing the ingredient to your routine and moisturizing adequately.
Blackheads are frustrating to deal with but we hope with these tips, it can help simplify the process on how to eliminate them. Remember it's important to be patient and consistent with your skincare routine as it takes some time to see results!
