Ingredient 101: AHA
What is an AHA?
AHA is a chemical used to exfoliate the outermost layer of skin to slough off any dead skin cells to reveal new healthy skin cells below.
Your skin already has a renewal process that regenerates new cells every 27 days but as you age, that process also slows down and becomes less effective. Using an AHA will accelerate that shredding process and help your skin shred off the dead cells to reveal smoother and younger looking skin.
What type of skin benefits the most from AHA?
Even though all skin types can benefit from AHA, DRY and aging skin benefits the most because it helps retexture and brighten rough flaky skin while also adding a bit of hydration. It also helps increase collagen production which is needed for aging skin.
What masks contain AHA?
