How to Get Rid of Strawberry Skin
Okay, let's get down to it because this is a skin concern that a few of us in the office deal with. Strawberry skin. The bane of our existence. Just kidding (kind of). As common as it is, strawberry skin is still super annoying to deal with. But don't worry! That's what we're here for~ We have some tips ;D
What is strawberry skin?
Also known as keratosis pilaris, or chicken skin. Strawberry skin occurs most commonly on the upper arms or legs. It's when excess keratin (a skin protein) gets stuck in the hair follicles, causing build-up.
Do I have strawberry skin?
Check your skin! Again, most people have it on their upper arms or legs. They tend to look like tiny bumps on the skin and can feel rough to the touch. If you notice texture on the skin, like small goosebumps, then it may be strawberry skin. By the way, it's also good to note that they're not usually itchy or painful either (:
To help manage and treat, here are our tips!
Introduce one of these ingredients into your routine! They're chemical exfoliating ingredients that can help slough off dead skin cells that may be blocking/clogging pores.
- Urea
- BHA
- AHA
Moisturize your skin! Make sure you're putting on body lotion or cream after you shower so your skin doesn't get dry. If you have keratosis pilaris, you must stay moisturized. If your skin is dry, you might tend to scratch your skin, causing further irritation. Let's avoid that. Grab your moisturizer and slather that baby on after you shower!
Speaking of showering, make sure the soap your using doesn't dry out your skin, like our Body Care Duo that contains Cica and BHA to give your body the extra love it needs while ridding your skin of those peculiar bumps! And also, avoid using really hot water in the shower! It's a nice feeling, we know, but it can make your skin dry and it definitely won't help.
We hope this helps! A few of us here noticed a difference once we paid more attention to moisturizing and including a product with a chemical exfoliating ingredient! (: Remember to always listen to your skin and patch test before using any new products!
