How To Treat Blackheads
We all know how frustrating blackheads can be. No matter how hard you cleanse, they just don’t seem to disappear! Fortunately, we here at FaceTory compiled a list of tips and remedies on how to effectively get rid of those pesky blackheads!
What Are Blackheads?
Blackheads are very common and typically affect teenagers or young adults who are undergoing hormonal changes, but blackheads can still affect those in their 20s or 30s too!
To put it simply, blackheads are a type of acne but they are not pimples! Pimples are small, painful, and usually discolored bumps that have a white-yellowish fluid (AKA pus) at the top. Blackheads open up little bumps on the skin and fill them with excessive amounts of oil and dead skin. These bumps turn black because if the bump opens, the air exposure can turn the bump to an average blackhead.
How To Treat Blackheads
Cleansing using AHA’s and BHA’s
There are plenty of products in the market that contains AHAs and BHAs in them, but what we really want to look for are cleansers. AHAs will work above the skin’s surface level to really exfoliate the dead skin cells that clog up your pores while BHAs will work below the skin’s surface to exfoliate the insides of your pores and push all of the gunk and dead skin cells out!
Chemical Peels
A couple of years back, chemical peels became all the hype, and for good reason too! Applying a chemical peel once a week will help unclog your pores and will eat away at the blackheads, leaving your skin looking smooth and clearer! At the same time, these peels are able to help deposit other ingredients into the skin that can help with other issues such as dark spots or hyperpigmentation!
We want to warn that these peels should NOT be used every day, and you should slowly introduce your skin to peels as these products tend to be a little strong on certain skin types! We also strongly recommend hydrating more than usual on days you use peels as they can be quite drying.
Blackheads are a very common skin concern–everyone deals with them! But we hope that these tips help you understand what steps you need to take to get rid of your current blackheads and prevent any future ones as well! Remember to be patient as these skin results don’t happen overnight and it may take some time to see results.
